How to get there

Direct trains from Praha hl.n. toward Beroun stop at Karlštejn. From the village station, a 25-minute uphill walk through chestnut woods reaches the gate.

  • ~ 40 minutes + 25 min walk uphill.
  • About 80 CZK (€3) each way — buy on the platform or in the app.

Hiking tip

Skip the tourist road and walk in through the Český Kras nature reserve — a quiet karst landscape of limestone cliffs, hidden caves and wildflower meadows. Get off the train one stop earlier at Srbsko and follow the red-marked trail; you'll round a bend and see the castle floating above the trees.
