Autumn in Adršpach: The Best Time to Walk the Rocks

I've walked Adršpach in every season, and autumn wins — warm colour against pale sandstone, cool air in the gorges, and a fraction of the summer queues at the gate.

I've walked Adršpach in every season, and autumn wins — warm colour against pale sandstone, cool air in the gorges, and a fraction of the summer queues at the gate.

Chapter 01

Why Autumn Beats Summer Here

Adršpach's sandstone towers are impressive any time of year, but autumn — specifically late September through October — adds red and gold beech leaves against the pale rock, and noticeably thinner crowds than the summer weekends.

Chapter 02

The Route Most Visitors Miss

Most visitors stick to the main circuit near the entrance. A longer loop toward the Wolf Gorge (Vlčí rokle) sees a fraction of the foot traffic and rewards you with narrower, more dramatic passages between the rock towers.

Chapter 03

What to Bring

Sturdy shoes are non-negotiable — some passages narrow enough to turn sideways, and autumn rain makes the sandstone paths slick. A light rain layer is worth carrying even on a clear-looking day.

Chapter 04

Practical Notes

The park has a marked entrance fee and gate hours that shift earlier as autumn days shorten — check current hours before planning a late-afternoon visit, since being caught inside after closing means a longer walk to find an alternate exit.
